Samar Jabri is a sound artist, sound designer, composer and boom operator working across film, post-production, visual art and performance. Her practice combines a background in music production and sound art with professional experience in film production and audiovisual storytelling.
Working under the name Baqqa Sound, Samar creates original sound works, compositions and sound design for film, visual art, exhibitions and performance. Her approach explores the relationship between sound, image, movement and space, with a focus on creating distinctive and immersive sonic environments.
Samar is increasingly working within film and audiovisual production, with experience spanning location sound, boom operation, post-production, sound design and composition.
During 2026, she has worked as a Boom Operator for Poly on an SVT television series. She has also worked with post-production for the animated short film Goodbye, Lapiz.
Samar has also worked in collaboration with Unison Studio in Malmö, contributing to film post-production, and continues to develop her professional work within film and sound post-production.
Her previous artistic work includes sound design and composition for stage and performance productions such as An Evening with Astad by Rani Nair, Reflekterad olydnad, a poetic-documentary theatre performance by Farhija Feysal and America Zavala at Östgötateatern, and Reclaim Our Bodies by visual artist Vilija Vitkutė.
In 2023, Samar created sound work for the summer exhibition Onde A Luta Termina at Röda Sten Konsthall in Gothenburg. In 2024, she worked as a sound artist at Strandverket Konsthall in Marstrand.
Samar has also developed Art on Art processes, creating original sonic interpretations of visual artworks. Her practice explores how sound can translate, challenge and extend the emotional and conceptual qualities of an image or artwork.
With a background in music production, audioproduction and media and communication, Samar brings together artistic sensitivity and technical knowledge. Her work moves between independent artistic practice and professional production environments, allowing her to collaborate across disciplines and adapt sound to the creative and technical needs of each project.
Baqqa Sound offers commissioned sound design, composition, music production and audio work for film, television, visual art, exhibitions, performance and multisensory projects.
